Help us raise funds for Milton Charles Odom to help him with medical bills after being shot in the head twice while working. Show some love! Milton Charles Odom is one of the most compassionate, resilient, and caring individuals we have ever known. You need someone to talk to- he is there. You need a shoulder to cry on- he is there. You need to get real advice- he is there. You need a place to stay? money? something to eat?- he is there. He has the ability to make you feel loved, respected and special even if you are meeting him for the first time or have known him for all your life. He has always put others first and trusted everyone. So how can we explain what happened to this beautiful person on Friday, August 23, 2013? We can’t. But what we do know is that God was always watching over him and that his time for helping others is not over. Most of us feared for the worst when hearing that he was shot in the head twice while picking up a passenger in his cab. What you might not know is that this stubborn (yeah Charles we called you stubborn), amazing man called four people and tried to drive himself to the hospital after he was shot. After spending 2.5 days in the trauma unit joking with doctors and nurses they released him- yes nothing short of a miracle! What is even more amazing is to see him standing on his own two feet Sunday afternoon telling us I am cooking dinner for you- a testament to how he always gives. The outpouring of love and support for him has been unbelievable and while we all know that he wants to take care of himself he needs us now more than ever. This person (we could think of other names for the suspect) nearly took Milton/Charles away from us. However, in the blink of an eye what he did take away (for a short time, hopefully) is Milton/Charles’ love of life and trust of people. Unfortunately, he didn’t have medical insurance and spending 2.5 days in the trauma unit is not cheap. Yes, the hospital has financial assistance programs but it is not going to cover everything (especially the ptsd therapy). If you could find it in your heart to give a little to someone whom has given us so much we know he would appreciate it. If you can’t words of support and encouragement are also welcome. At the end of the day go home call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and tell them you love them. Hug those that are close to you and tell them how much they mean to you. Because in the blink of an eye life changes and you might not have what you once had. We love you Milton Charles Odom and we are here with you every step of the way. You are an inspiration! They have thankfully caught the guy and are charging him.
